Rose Programme for Prisoner Rehabilitation

The Rose Programme for Prisoner Rehabilitation is taken from work undertaken at Welikade Prison in Sri Lanka under the auspices of Mr Lakshman Silva. This programme was aimed at training long term prisoners to help prisoners shortly to be released start preparation for their return and look honestly at what they needed to change in their behaviour and surroundings, face important relationships positively and realistically, in order to plan and have a greater chance of behaviour modification and success with their new life outside.

This manual is set out so that the theory is at the beginning and practical exercises follow afterwards.

Section One is focused on the main principles that trainers and officers need to understand before embarking on the workshops.

Section Two is a practical guide to running the sessions.

Section Three is an inventory of games and exercises.

It is important that all trainers understand the aim of the work and the main principles of training before they begin to use the practical exercises. All trainers should read through and discuss the manual with more experienced personnel before they begin the training process.
